Got a job interview in English coming up? Here are the phrases that project confidence and make a good impression — then practice them out loud and the tutor corrects you on the spot.
Key phrases
- Thanks for having me.A friendly opener as you arrive or join the call.
- I'm really excited about this opportunity.Shows genuine interest in the role right from the start.
- In my current role, I'm responsible for…Present your current job — note the present tense, "I'm responsible for."
- One of my biggest strengths is…Talk about a strength without sounding arrogant.
- I'd say my main weakness is…, but I've been working on it.The classic weakness answer — always end with how you're improving.
- Could you tell me a bit more about the team?Ask a question at the end — it shows real interest.
- When can I expect to hear back?A natural way to ask about next steps without sounding anxious.
Tip: Careful: "actually" does NOT mean "currently" — for time, say "currently." And it's "experience WITH" a tool or person ("experience with Excel") but "experience IN" a field ("experience in marketing").
