English for Work Meetings
Got a meeting or call in English coming up? Here are the phrases to introduce yourself, share your opinion, disagree politely, and ask someone to repeat — then practice them out loud.
Key phrases
- Hi everyone, can you hear me okay? The classic call opener to check your audio.
- I just wanted to add something here.A polite way to join the discussion without interrupting rudely.
- That's a good point.Agree and show you value what the person said.
- I see it a bit differently.A polite way to disagree — much softer than "I don't agree."
- Sorry, could you repeat that?Missed something? Asking someone to repeat is completely normal.
- Sorry, you're cutting out.Say this when someone's connection keeps breaking up on a call.
- Let's circle back to that later.Postpone a topic without dropping it. "Circle back" = return to it later.
Tip: Don't say "present myself" — the right phrase is "let me introduce myself." And it's "discuss something," with no "about": "let's discuss the budget," never "discuss about the budget."
